Hoping to heal from a broken relationship and also from a recent operation, teacher Mattie Stevens takes a summer job as helper at the Bar H, an Oregon dude ranch. Sarah Hogan, who hired her, is glad to have her aboard, but Sarah’s nephew, Lance, who owns the ranch, has a different reaction.

After a two-year absence, Lance Hogan has returned to the Bar H determined to fulfill his grandfather’s wish that the property be preserved for future generations. However, someone who opposes his goal is sabotaging the operation. Add to this the appearance of Mattie Stevens who reminds him of a relationship that ended in tragedy.
